Zusammenfassung:
The preliminary design of an aircraft system for the provision of communication services to disaster-affected regions is presented. Based on two mission scenarios, mission requirements and a design process are de¥ned. A concept is chosen through a trade-off study. The system architecture is outlined, and the TRL of the involved subsystems is discussed. For the detailed design, an initial sizing de¥nes the aerodynamic and propulsive parameters of the aircraft system. Both mission scenarios are fully analyzed. Structural sizing follows after the evaluation of the aerodynamic parameters. Concepts for the operation of the aircraft system and its infrastructure are presented. The aircraft system is holistically evaluated, consisting of a failure probability analysis and a cost analysis. Lastly, the sustainability of the concept is discussed as an increasingly important aspect of aviation.
