In 2017 wurde im DLR das multidisziplinäre Forschungsprojekt AKIRA gestartet. In AKIRA werden Systeme und Technologien für wiederverwendbare Raumtransportsysteme theoretisch und experimentell untersucht und weiterentwickelt. Dieses Papier gibt einen Überblick über das Projekt und die dahinter stehende Motivation. Weiterhin werden die einzelnen Teilarbeitsfelder des Projekts vorgestellt, und ihre jeweiligen Ziele sowie der aktuell erreichte Stand diskutiert.

In 2017, the multidisciplinary research project AKIRA was launched at the German Aerospace Center (DLR). AKIRA investigates and further develops systems and technologies for reusable space transportation systems both theoretically and experimentally. This paper provides an overview of the project and its underlying motivation. Furthermore, the individual sub-areas of the project are presented, and their respective goals and current status are discussed.
