Responsive Space (RS) describes the rapid provision of space-based capabilities to respond to changing space infrastructure needs. The need for a timely adaptation of functionalities in orbit is due to the significant dependence of civil, security and defense-related processes on satellites today - and the resulting realization that space is a critical infrastructure. This paper discusses the different levels of responsive space using the example of the research activities of the Responsive Space Cluster Competence Center (RSC³) at DLR.
