The design of a swept flying wing follows different guidelines than that of a tailplane. This necessity can be seen most clearly in the fact that the wing has to take on two important aerodynamic and flight mechanical tasks, generating lift and ensuring torque balance. In the case of the tailplane, there is usually a functional separation between these two tasks. The wing is responsible for the lift and the tail unit is responsible for moment compensation. This report summarizes the development and flight test results of a flying wing drone with a 2m wingspan. The following topics are reported: Concept and requirements; Flight mechanical design (lateral axis) and moment balance; Performance calculation; Development of flight control modes for lateral control; Presentation of flight test results and comparison for calculation; Flight testing problems. Most of the topics can only be presented in a general summary. The development of two design tools, the one for calculating the moment compensation and the one for the power calculation, is discussed in more detail. The design tools developed here are integrated into the ASES design tool "acdes_0201". This runs on the Matlab platform. In summary, it can be stated that the flying wing drone discussed has very good flight performance and flight characteristics and could therefore be suitable for commercial or military reconnaissance drones (e.g. battlefield reconnaissance).
