Eyjafjallajökull - Bardarbunga - Puyehue: Worte, die für mehr stehen als Naturschauspiele. Jeder dieser Vulkan-Ausbrüche hatte seine Eigenheiten, und nahm Einfluss auf den Luftverkehr. Allen gemeinsam war, dass es eine gewisse Unsicherheit im Umgang mit den konkreten Auswirkungen gab: Piloten wurden von einer Informationsflut überrascht oder erhielten wichtige Informationen nicht. Instrumente zur Ascheanzeige? Nicht vorhanden. Wie also um die Vulkanwolken in Zukunft herumfliegen?

Eyjafjallajökull, Bardarbunga, and Puyehue: words that represent more than just natural spectacles. Each of these volcanic eruptions had its own unique characteristics and impacted air traffic. What they all had in common was a certain uncertainty in dealing with the specific effects: pilots were overwhelmed by a flood of information or didn't receive crucial details. Ash detection instruments? Non-existent. So how will pilots fly around volcanic clouds in the future?
