Titel:

Heavy Lift Airships in Humanitarian Logistics

Zusammenfassung:
Once considered an afterthought in humanitarian sector, logistics is now recognised by many disaster response organisations as the key to successful relief operations. But the frequent lack of infrastructure particularly in extensiw disaster zones, makes it difficult to reach remote communities and those most in need of immediate help. A large range of relevant cargoes needs to be deliwred urgently to the hard to reach to prevent even greater catastrophic dimensions. Global climate change, rapid urbanisation, social inequality, and environmental degradation are already modifying patterns of disasters and the predicted rise makes an increase in preparedness and resilience building imperatiw and requires greater resources for disaster response, recovery and rehabilitation on international, national and local levels. Heavy lift airships have the potential of playing a vital role in humanitarian logistics by offering effectiw and efficient resource mobilisation through global public-private-ngo partnerships in line with industry trends.
