Zusammenfassung:
Twenty engineering students at the University of Bremen have started a challenging project: Within a time span of one year they want to design and build a hybrid airship, four meters in length and with a gas-volume of about four cubic-meters. The prototype will combine the "lighter-than-air" technology of conventional airships with the "heavier-than-air" principle of airplanes. The project is understood not only as a technological study and "proof of concept" but also as a new and efficient way of teaching. The lecturing and practical application of engineering and management hard-skills and soft-skills is integrated into an ambitious and distinctive project. This article documents the development processes and the assembly of the hybrid airship prototype at a point of time where the first third of the overall project duration has been absolved. An insight into the project will be provided from a technical as well as a didactic perspective. Furthermore, an overview of hybrid airship technology and other interesting projects will be given.
