The ESA Concurrent Design Facility requested a demonstration of enterprise architecture modelling from VEGA, using candidate technical architectures of lunar exploration as a case study. The demonstration used a System of Systems approach, the UK MOD Architecture Framework, and the ISSE tool. Once a model of the case study was created, it was exploited to address identified concerns. For example, traceability from goal objectives to alternative solutions mission elements was demonstrated. This compared the alternatives, as well as identifying apparently superfluous systems and possible redundancy. This paper describes the context of the demonstration, the modelling approach and its exploitation, concluding with lessons learnt.
