Zusammenfassung:
With increasing distance of targets for future exploration missions the transfer [delta]V in relation to the transfer time for human spaceflight missions becomes an issue due to the limited payload capacity of the launch vehicles. Vehicle staging then is an important factor in order to reduce the required mass launched into Low Earth Orbit. The rendezvous of different stages must not necessarily take place directly after launch, but can take place at a different location. This also allows that different stages, the manned vehicle and cargo, travel on different transfer trajectories. Here we present a low-cost transfer option for infrastructure and cargo transport towards the Earth-Moon-Libration Point 2. These trajectories are based on the Weak Stability Boundary (WSB) transfers to the moon discovered by Belbruno. The WSB transfer not only reduces the required transfer [delta]V, but also has a significant impact on systems engineering issues. In some cases no other large manoeuvres are required after the Earth departure manoeuvre, making it unnecessary to carry heavy propulsion equipment.
