Luna Resort is a project with the tangible goal of putting a work of art, in the form of a cottage, on the Moon, using a small Swedish-developed Moon lander. The mission has artistic, political, technical and scientific aspects. It is also a commercial venture of private-public partnership type, with the main part of the funding from the private sector. The business plan aims for investors to regain their money through artistic and sales activities - in addition to the project-sponsoring PR value. The idea has stirred enthusiasm in both political and business circles. In 2004, an assessment study showed the feasibility of a small soft lander with a house-package ejecting system and cameras for documentation. Recently, a housepackage design study was initiated, aiming at the development of a prototype.
