Zusammenfassung:
In 2004 the new vision for space exploration was presented by the US president and studies were carried out to prepare a return to the moon. Based on the ESAS report NASA selected a scenario similar to that of the Apollo missions. When taking goals for long term exploration as proposed by the IAA into account, other approaches to leave the low Earth orbit seem more favourable. In the Space Station Design Workshop 2006 a mission scenario combining lunar exploration with access to the Sun-Earth libration points was investigated. A mission scenario stationing a vehicle in LEO and a mission scenario utilizing the Earth-Moon libration point were compared in the study. The results are presented in this paper.
