Zusammenfassung:
An ambitious space exploration program can't be completely sustainable until masses, dimensions, lifetime and operative flexibility of spacecrafts or planetary modules are strongly constrained to the amount of resources to be carried from Earth. This paper presents the implementation of a dynamic simulator of a planetary plant constituted by two main units: a collection, beneficiation and chemical processing module for the extraction of oxygen from lunar regolith, and a Life Cycle Support System (LCSS) unit based on a greenhouse for oxygen, water and biomass production in support of a manned base. The importance of space systems operative modes simulation to support the entire design process is highlighted and the motivations for simulators and test benches development in space applications are discussed.
