Titel:

Multipurpose Module Capabilities with a Deployable Shock Load Attenuator and Wheel Mobility System for Lower-Cost Lunar/Mars

Autor(en):

Zusammenfassung:
This paper will present a proposed "common module" concept that can be applied to support crews, laboratory functions and logistical delivery/storage for lunar/Mars surface missions. The design minimizes LEO launch and surface landing/mobility challenges by offering compatibility with Medium Lift Vehicle (MLV) payload capacities using a small volume and mass facility approach. Multi-functional versatility is afforded by standardizing module utility systems and interfaces, enabling a delivery logistic module to be readily adapted for other applications on the surface. The presentation will address requirements for crew consumables and living and work accommodations along with issues that influence facility layout options and equipment features. The design is compatible with Medium Lift Vehicle (MLV) LEO launch capabilities, and can be adapted to low-thrust or chemical delivery vehicles for Earth-Mars orbit transfers.
