Titel:

Expanded ISS Utilization: Catalyst for Commercial Cislunar Transportation

Autor(en):
P. Eckert
Zusammenfassung:
Development of commercial Earth-to-orbit transportation systems serving the International Space Station (ISS) may constitute the first step toward development of commercial Earth-orbit-to-moon (i.e., cislunar) transportation capabilities. An open architecture approach that uses reconfigurable modular components and common interfaces could facilitate commercial and international participation in provision of cislunar transportation services. The development of U.S. commercial transportation capabilities to serve ISS need not conflict with expanded use of non U.S. transportation systems, because of the need for strategic redundancy and the strong demand for transportation services that might be engendered by robust ISS utilization.
