Titel:

Application of Adaptive Trailing Edge Elements within the AWIATOR Project

Autor(en):
H. Hansen
Zusammenfassung:
Within the scope of the European research project AWIATOR new, in flight adaptable trailing edge devices (TEDs) in combination with several other new technologies are studied and flight demonstrated on an A340 test aircraft. First results from a 2003 flight test campaign are summarised and outlook is given on flight tests planned for 2005/2006. These TEDs are an important part of a multifunctional control surface system, which can be used for several interesting applications. The design principles of such adaptive wings are explained and examples for application in low and high speed are given.
