Titel:

Rapid Multi-Disciplinary Analysis and Optimisation of Novel Air Vehicle Configurations

Autor(en):
J. Doherty
Zusammenfassung:
The QinetiQ Multi-Disciplinary Concept Assessment and Design (MDCAD) capability enables rapid configuration optimisation for novel civil and military air vehicles. The capability links operational requirements, conceptual design and preliminary design. Concurrent multi-disciplinary links between many separate disciplines, including aerodynamics and structures, is a key feature of the capability. The capability, and its components, has evolved through extensive use for many varied military and civil applications. This paper describes the original configuration design process used for conventional air vehicles, and then reviews the developments that were necessary to generalise the capability for novel air vehicle configuration design.
