Zusammenfassung:
Separated flows can be avoided by adding kinetic energy in boundary layers. The use of Sub-Boundary layer Vortex Generators (SBVGs) upstream of the separated area is a simple way to perform this type of flow control. These devices create vortices transferring momentum from the outer boundary layer to the inner one. Two numerical studies carried out with the elsA software [1] on multi-block structured meshes are presented in this paper. The purpose of the first one is the use of SBVGs to delay the transonic buffet onset on an airfoil. The second one aims at increasing the efficiency of conventional high-lift systems in landing configuration by suppressing the separated flow on the flap. For both studies, SBVGs were completely meshed in order to take into account their shapes.
