Zusammenfassung:
The assessment of the buffet onset remains today a problem of outstanding importance for transport aircraft designers. To get a better knowledge of this phenomenon, several projects were launched at ONERA and this paper presents a combined experimental and numerical study of the transonic buffet on airfoils and wings and two techniques of control. Mechanical Vortex Generators were applied upstream of the shock location on a 2D model and Trailing Edge Deflectors were installed at the trailing edge of 2D and 3D models. A thorough analysis of the measurements and of the results of numerical simulations, as well as the demonstration of the efficiency of the investigated control devices are provided in the paper.
