This paper describes a slightly different approach to the solution of the generalised equation of motion to that presented by Edwards. Some of the issues that are addressed are: verifying the completeness of the solution, the use of mode tracking, the choice of the exponential approximation in the calculation of the kernel functions, and the search for real roots of the equation of motion.
