Zusammenfassung:
A methodology based on reduced order modeling is used to accelerate the stochastic analysis of an aeroelastic system comprised of a clamped, square plate in high-speed flow. The structure is modeled by the von Karman plate equations (for in-plane and out-of-plane displacements), and the aerodynamics are modeled with piston theory. Stochastic analysis is performed through Monte-Carlo simulation, assuming that the stiffness properties of the plate spatially vary in a correlated fashion. A reduced order model of a uniform panel is developed using the proper orthogonal decomposition. Calculations indicate that Monte-Carlo simulation of the reduced order model provide a good approximation of the response statistics produced by the same approach applied to the full-order model. Particular attention is given to the need to capture the spatial variability of panel properties in the simulation ensemble, while maintaining the computational efficiency associated with building, and applying, a single low-order model of the structure.
