Titel:

Rotor Blade Control by Active Helicopter Servo Flaps

Zusammenfassung:
Active Blade Control is a powerful tool to alleviate typical problems of helicopter flight. In order to capitalise on this potential, closed loop control laws have been developed and tested on a BO105 with hydraulic individual blade root actuation. For the utilisation of this control method, a four-bladed BK117 rotor of advanced geometry has been equipped with small trailing edge servo flaps for flight testing. In order to increase efficiency and robustness of this technology, a five-bladed bearingless main rotor with improved servo flaps is under development. As a further step forward, a locally distributed blade pitch actuation is investigated. A final goal may be an electronic primary control of the rotor by servo flaps.
