Zusammenfassung:
One of the important issues associated with composite bonded repairs is the presence of defects. Defects such as delaminations or debonding may be generated during the bonded repair application or may develop during service. In order to assure the safe operation of the repaired structure, it is important to assess the repair integrity over time. This work presents experimental and numerical work aimed towards establishing acceptance criteria for bonded repair allowable defects. It is concluded that the bonded repair concept has a slow crack growth rate in the presence of debonds, making it possible to schedule maintenance inspection intervals according to the damage tolerance philosophy.
