Zusammenfassung:
For the new developed airliner Airbus A380-800 a fatigue test is required by the aviation authorities and is necessary to verifY computational models and ensure civil aircraft safety. Similar to all previous Airbus aircraft, Airbus Deutschland GmbH has chosen IABG for the responsible test institute for the A380 Full Scale Fatigue Test. So far, starting with A300 and up to A340-600, fatigue tests for Airbus aircraft were performed by "Multiple Section" testing where major parts of the airframe were tested separately. With the A380, for the first time in Airbus history, it was decided to carry out a fatigue test with a complete airframe structure, i.e. the test specimen comprises of the wings and fuselage airframe, including cockpit and empennage sections. The full scale fatigue test for the A380 exposes the complete airframe to all fatigue relevant loads it will experience in service. The aim is to justifY the fatigue and damage tolerance behaviour of the airframe for reaching the type certification of the aircraft. To be able to introduce the necessary loads to all parts of the test specimen and taking into account the material properties of the aircraft an adapted load introduction concept was developed. For the fuselage all inertia loads resulting from the weight of the aircraft structure, the pax and the cargo have to be introduced to the three decks of the A380 structure. These requirements for the load introduction lead to huge loading tree systems with a specialized and statically determined design to distribute the tension and compression loads to several seat and cargo rails. On the other hand all lateral loads, resulting from ground or gust loads, which have to be applied to the fuselage will be introduced in X and Y direction via loading trees connected to fittings riveted to the fuselage shell. The wings are loaded with loading trees connected to the specimen via bonded load introduction pads. Due to the requirements and the size of the specimen a load introduction concept for the wing was realized to be able to introduce a variety of torsion moments to the wing. In advance to former fatigue tests a loading of the wing in X and Y direction was established, additionally. The paper will give an overview of a state of the art full scale fatigue test and the load introduction concepts used by IABG to improve qualification for large aircraft structures.
