Titel:

Fatigue Tolerant Design in Airframes and the Influence of Vibration Suppression on Crack Growth in Helicopters

Autor(en):
H. Perrett, J.P. Dawkins
Zusammenfassung:
A study is presented of flaw tolerant design methodology in rotary and fixed wing aircraft. Flaw tolerant design is compared to safe life design with reference to the requirements of FAR29 and the influence of load spectrum content is used to illustrate fundamental differences between rotary and fixed wing applications. Crack growth prediction is used to show how the Active Control of Structural Response in helicopter airframes can modify the loading environment so as to restore the ability to apply flaw tolerant design.
