Zusammenfassung:
In service since 1984, the Dassault Aviation Mirage 2000 is derived in several versions and can carry out a wide panel of missions ranging from air superiority interceptions to strategic ground strikes. Waiting for a large deployment of the Rafale, it is the essential vector for operational missions used by the French Air Force. From the fleet fatigue monitoring, an increase of severity was detected between the foreseen and the operational use of aircraft. Then, regarding the need of potential life for the remaining years of use planned for the Mirage 2000 fleet, it was found out that a life extension of about 50% beyond the initial demonstration was necessary. This article describes the different actions that were undertaken by the different partners involved in the life extension programme in order to fulfil this goal.
