Titel:

Multidisciplinary Wing Analysis and Optimization in the Predesign Phase

Zusammenfassung:
Two conceptual design tools were used to calculate wing weight and aerodynamic performance within predesign. Both codes have been combined in an automated process chain, exchanging results and using the same set of input data using the optimization software Pointer [12]. Referring to a current technology program, parameter scans and optimization runs of a wing design have been performed. Variations of wing planform, thickness distribution and lift distribution have been investigated. The effect of different objective functions to the optimization process is presented. The importance to include high lift considerations is explained based on the optimization result. Analysis tools to consider these effects in conceptual design are being developed in parallel and will be integrated in the described design process as a next step.
