Titel:

A Constraint Based Environment to solve Configuration Problems: Application to HALE UAV Design

Zusammenfassung:
The design of new concepts or the validation or evaluation of existing ones is considered as solving an hybrid constraint satisfaction problem where design decisions such as the selection of components and their dimensioning are made w.r.t. constraints coming from physics, technology, requirements and designers preferences. This paper is aimed at presenting a generic approach for dealing with extended configuration problems which combines both constraint satisfaction and object oriented approaches. An object oriented modeling language is used to capture the structure of the product (from the raw components to the final product) and to express design options. A synthesis function, based on constraint logic programming uses this generic bill of material to build product concepts. The design of high altitude long endurance unmanned aerial vehicles is the first application domain tesbed.
