Titel:

"Global Aircraft" Pre-design based on Constraint Propagation and Interval Analysis

Zusammenfassung:
Designing complex artifacts such as aircraft involves a multilevellmultidisciplinary organization of the design process. This process is usually organized in three levels, proceeding from global to detailed design. In this paper, we are concerned with level one, where a model of the aircraft consists of explicit mathematical formulae, and where sizing at this level involves finding a set of values for design variables satisfying both global aircraft performance requirements, technological limitations and behaviors governed by physical laws. Here, we are more interested in finding possibilities of solutions within the space allowed by design constraints, than in maximizing any objective function. A demonstrator based on constraint propagation and interval algebra has been implemented, giving interesting results on pre-design experimentation problems.
