Extraterrestrial ressources will play an increasing role in the future evolution of the human civilization. As the population of our planet increases and the natural ressources are dwingling, steps must be taken to preserve the resources of the Earth but at the same time, humanity has to look out for alternatives. This will force the exploration and utilization of extraterrestrial ressources to a greater extent than in the first decades of the space age. - This paper attempts an overview of the uses and potentials of extraterrestrial resources in near Earth space, on the Moon and beyond.
