Titel:

Improving the Cost Effectiveness of Engine/Airframe Condition and Performance Monitoring Systems

Autor(en):

Zusammenfassung:
Monitoring systems evolved on the principle of replicating human perceptual functions. Vision and hearing were replaced by sensors and data processing so that deductions about the remaining safe or useful life of parts could be made. Progress has been driven by sensor development and the ability to do ever more complex diagnostic and prognostic computations. Only little progress has been made in the application of these advances to the overall task of designing, developing and operating modern engines and airframes in the most cost effective manner. With the application of new technology, such as neural networks, an overview of the real objectives of monitoring systems is required.
