Titel:

EXTEND - An Approach for a Knowledge Based Diagnostic System for Turbine Monitoring

Autor(en):
W. Koschel, T. Depolt
Zusammenfassung:
The expert system EXTEND is a stepwise approach of an Al-concept proof for aircraft engine diagnostics. The complexity of the engine health monitoring problem was reduced to the monitoring and diagnosis of a single gas turbine component. The HP turbine stage was exemplary selected since it is the most stressed and critical component of the engine. Within the frame of a basic research program expert system technology was introduced into the failure diagnostic process. EXTEND integrates three knowledge domains which include the analytic and the heuristic expert knowledge as well for turbine failures as for sensor faults. The third knowledge domain consists of a thermodynamic model of the turbine stage, which was validated by experiments.
