An overview is given of a modern monitoring system using the example of the Electronic Control Box (ECB) which controls the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) on an Airbus A330/340. From a system engineering point of view the various monitors implemented in the ECB are described with their interface to monitor users. General trends for future monitoring are discussed.
