Titel:

An Integrated Health and Usage Monitoring System for the SH-60B Helicopter

Autor(en):

Zusammenfassung:
The requirement for operational readiness rates of military helicopters is higher than ever before. The need to reduce the operational and support costs has become more urgent due to reduced defense budgets. The US Navy has also identified a requirement for on-line diagnostics for improved flight safety and maintenance of rotary wing engines and power drive systems. Smiths Industries has developed a Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) which incorporates mechanical diagnostic technologies for propulsion and drive train monitoring to meet these requirements. The HUMS is currently undergoing flight trials on a US Navy SH-60B helicopter. This paper describes the system capabilities and summarizes the status of the SH-60B trials.
