The usefulness of an ACMS System is related to how easily it can be reprogrammed to monitor different conditions or record different parameters. This paper describes AlliedSignal Aerospaces VADAR tool, which allows ACMS users to easily create complex triggering conditions, parameter calculations, data collections, and report formats. This is done with a ground based tool that is used to manipulate graphical elements on the screen. The newly created algorithm is then uploaded as a database to the airborne platform, where it is executed interpretively.
