Titel:

Cost Benefit Study on Tornado OLMOS; Findings for New Aircraft Developments

Autor(en):
J. Kunz
Zusammenfassung:
The Monitoring System OLMOS on the military Weapon System Tornado was introduced into service 1988 and the logistic benefit is paying off. Beside the expected increase in flight safety, system readiness and diagnostic support, the monitoring of the inherent life consumption of the airframe and the engine is the prerequisite for a stress oriented on condition maintenance concept. The main focus will be the cost benefit trade-off on airframe fatigue, static overload, engine fatigue, and engine operation monitoring. A sensitivity analysis will show the various effects using a primitive counter versus a complex integrated system.
