Active Control of Reverberant Sound Fields

Zusammenfassung:
A simple method of controlling the acoustic response of reverberant sound fields is presented in this study based upon output feedback control. Phase compensation was investigated in this work as a method of enhancing the performance of the output feedback control system at low frequencies where in-bandwidth transduction device dynamics dictate system performance. A rectangular enclosure was constructed to evaluate the control system design, and an acoustic loudspeaker and condenser microphone were employed to control the sound field in conjunction with a power amplifier. Experimental results demonstrate that a simple series compensator can be implemented in the feedback loop to significantly improve system performance and extend the bandwidth of operation.
