Titel:

Experimental Analysis of Lift-off and Aerodynamic Noise on the Ariane 5 Launch vehicle

Zusammenfassung:
This paper presents the two experimental campaigns which were conducted to determine the ARIANE 5 lift-off noise on one hand, and the transonic and maximum dynamic pressure noise on the other hand. The lift-off noise tests were performed by ONERA in FAUGA-MAUZAC facilities, the aerodynamic noise tests were performed in the HST and SST wind tunnels of the Nationaal Lucht-En Ruimtevaartlaboratorium (NLR) in AMSTERDAM (The Netherlands). The main results of both campaigns are presented and a comparison in terms of internal noise level and structural vibration level is done for the fairing and the EPC front skirt. It shows that lift-off is the most severe phase for the fairing, while the transonic phase is the most severe for the EPC front skirt.
