Zusammenfassung:
The HEG facility has been calibrated at four new test conditions, these being at two different diaphragm hurst pressures, 50 and 100 MPa and two nozzle reservoir enthalpies, approximately 14 and 21 MJ/kg. The facility is operated in a tailored interface mode, which is seen in the approximately constant nozzle reservoir pressure levels measured, with 1 - 2 msec of test time available. The pitot rake, boundary layer rake and heat transfer rake indicate that the four conditions are repeatable from shot to shot and that there is little or no axial variation of the flow exiting the nozzle. A uniform core flow of approximately 500 and 600 mm in diameter, for the 50 and 100 MPa hurst pressures, respectively, are measured. The larger core flow for the 100 MPa hurst pressure conditions is due to the thinner nozzle wall boundary layer. Unfortunately, no stagnation point heat transfer profiles were obtained for the 100MPa hurst pressure conditions. This is due to the ablation of the shock tube, contaminating the flow exiting the nozzle, leading to false readings on the thermocouples.
