Titel:

Reynolds Number Effects on the Pressure Distribution of Fully Developed, Suddenly Expanding Pipe Flow

Zusammenfassung:
Experiments were carried out to investigate the effects of Reynolds number on the pressure coefficient distribution of fully developed flow past an axissymmetric sudden expansion. The working fluid was air at ambient conditions and Reynolds numbers, based on the upstream bulk velocity and the upstream pipe diameter, of 400 to 10,000 were investigated. The expansion ratio, based on the downstream to upstream cross sectional area ratio, was fixed and equaled four. Results include the maximum recovery pressure and adverse pressure gradient, as well as, the determination of the hydraulic loss characteristics of the expansion under fully developed flow conditions.
