Experiences in International Collaboration

Autor(en):

Zusammenfassung:
Taking international cooperation as an undisputable fact in todays aerospace ventures, some of the possible and actually experienced forms are briefly analyzed. Various incentives, objectives, pressures towards work sharing are presented to clarify the spread of interests. They also explain why the way to mutual agreements is so long and tedious. Types of agreements varying considerably with project phase each have their specific prerequisites, hurdles, pitfalls and, of course, advantages. Whereas co-production was the starting point today international collaboration covers all aspects from basic research and technology all the way through to after sales support. But for all phases efficient communications linked with reasonable standardization are the foremost prerequsites. Experience gathered in Europe with, for instance, Airbus lndustrie now has to be carefully scrutinized and modified to suit the purpose of up-coming global multilateral ventures like the new generation Supersonic Transport (SCT) or the Very Large Subsonic (VLCT) currently being studied.
