Titel:

Methods of Structure-Borne Noise Estimation in Enclosures

Zusammenfassung:
This paper presents analytical techniques, in time-domain, for estimating transmitted structure-borne noise levels in closed cylindrical cavities due to stochastic excitations. Time-domain approaches are necessary when structural and/or material nonlinearities are present. Structural response solutions are discussed in the framework of the nonlinear theory of random vibrations where analytical and numerical techniques are evaluated for their suitability and complexity. It is assumed that the acoustic pressure induced by the vibration of the structural components and transmitted into the enclosure, satisfies the linear acoustic wave equation. The time-domain solutions for the sound pressure inside the acoustic cavity are obtained by the superposition of all individual contributions. Validity of this statement stems from the assumption of independently vibrating shell and end plate systems which form the cylindrical enclosure.
