Titel:

Acoustic Prediction for Transonic Propellers Including Nonlinear Near-Field Effects

Zusammenfassung:
A method is presented which allows an accurate prediction of the acoustic signal from a transonic propeller. The method uses an Euler solver to generate flow-field values on the surfaces of a finite length cylinder surrounding the propeller. The values on the cylinder are used as boundary data for an outer linear acoustic problem by Kirchhoffs method. The method is applied to a model propeller with M hel 0.8 and M hel 0.95. For the subsonic case the Kirchhoff results are in close correspondence to the Euler solution in a nearfield position outs.ide the Kirchhoff surface. A completely linear acoustic prediction also agrees well with these results. For the transonic case the agreement between the Euler and Kirchhoff results is quite satisfactory while the completely linear acoustic results fail to predict important features of the pressure signal.
