Titel:

Assessment and Design of Low Boom Configurations for Supersonic Transport Aircraft

Autor(en):
C.M. Darden, K.P. Shepherd
Zusammenfassung:
A review is given of currently used sonic boom prediction and minimization methods. The three-pronged approach - acceptability studies, configuration design and operation, and atmospheric propagation studies - to the sonic boom problem as an element of the High Speed Research Program is also discussed. Theoretical and experimental results of concepts designed to validate current minimization methods are given, and results of initial human response studies using a sonic boom simulation booth at NASA Langley Research Center are also shown.
