Zusammenfassung:
This paper describes interior noise ground tests conducted on a DC-9 fuselage test section. The objectives of this work were to study ground test and analysis techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of interior noise control treatments for advanced turboprop aircraft, and to study t.he sensitivity of the ground test results to changes in various test conditions. Noise and vibration measurements were conducted on the DC-9 test section under simulated advanced turboprop excitation, for two interior noise control treatment configurations. Selected test conditions were parametrically varied during the tests to examine sensitivity effects. The ground test data were analyzed to identify major transmission paths, evaluate treatment effectiveness, and define cabin noise levels expected under flight conditions. These results were found to be in good agreement with the results of measurements obtained during earlier MD-UHB Demonstrator flight tests with comparable interior treatment configurations. (The Demonstrator is an MD-80 test aircraft with the left JT8D engine replaced with a prototype Ultra High Bypass (UHB) advanced turboprop engine).
