Titel:

Experience with Multigrid in Three-Dimensional Acoustic Boundary Element Method

Zusammenfassung:
The numerical solution of boundary integral equations requires only the discretization of the boundary rather than the domain. Hence, the resulting algebraic systems of equations are considerably smaller than those generated by an equivalent finite-difference or finite-element approximation. Nevertheless, in many applications, the dimension of the system may still be large, so that iterative methods are needed for their solution. Multigrid methods are special iterative schemes that work with grid sequences of decreasing mesh-size, and are applicable also in the case of the non-symmetric boundary element (BE) matrix systems. The aim of this paper is to present the experience with different multigrid procedures for solving the BE equations of threedimensional time harmonic acoustic wave propagation problems.
