Zusammenfassung:
The paper presents and summarizes the activities conducted at the Flight Test Department of ALENIA regarding the Flight Flutter Analysis of a modified version, relative to the longitudinal control line (jam override mechanism), of a military transport aircraft. Since the well known, numerical and experimental, aeroelastic behaviour of the aircraft, the flight flutter analysis has been organized for looking at some very specific objectives, trying to obtain the maximum of information from the tests, while keeping their costs as low as possible. A standard approach has been followed for this analysis, starting with some numerical calculations, then performing specific Ground Vibration Tests and finally getting to the flight tests for the logical conclusion of the activity. The main result of this experimental activity has been realized to be not only the demonstration of the complete flutter clearance of this modified version of the aircraft, but a further validation of each single steps of the aeroelastic calculation framework followed in ALENIA, and a verification of the possibility, when specific information are already available, to conduct aeroelastic flight tests at a fraction of their usual costs.
