The success of parametric updating procedures depends upon the quality and suitability of the test results in relation to the particular correction strategy employed. In this article, a method for defining the optimal pickup degrees of freedom is presented in view of performing an expansion of the unmeasured eigenvector components. In addition, the possibility of enriching the observation space of the structure by using multiple structural configurations is examined. It will be seen that information with respect to different boundary configurations is available without the need of performing additional tests.
