The poilutant emission of aeroengines can be reduced via the application of new low pollution combustors. Different combustor concepts are under discussion to reduce the most harmful exhaust constituent of aeroengines, the NOx. Each concept has its specific advantages and disadvantages. Apart from the potential of pollution reduction the compelxity of the combustor and the resulting risk are also important factors. Under these aspects each concept will be evaluated.
