Early in the design of the ATP, it was decided that digital Avionic Systems including an Electronic Flight Instrument System would be used. The paper describes the certification process used for the EFIS, software of the digital systems and the lightning protection ofthe aircraft. The method used to show compliance with JAR 25.1309 is alsodescribed.
