Titel:

Linear Programming as a Device for the Determination of Market Value of Commercial Aircraft

Autor(en):
S.P. Sobotka
Zusammenfassung:
This paper explains the use of a linear programming model in the determination of optimal uses of commercial aircraft and the values of aircraft to the airlines of the world. The technique used takes into account the costs and operating characteristics of aircraft as well as the demand for their services in order to arrive at aircraft use and price projections for the period 1959 to 1965. The mathematical model assigns aircraft to various stage lengths so as to minimize system operating costs and computes the value of each aircraft type to the airline system. Alternative solutions giving the results using different sets of data, forecasts or assumptions show the flexibility of linear programming models under conditions of uncertainty. In addition to the detailed mathematical statement of the model there is presented a description of the data used, the method of data collection as well as study purpose and procedure.
